Bruins Close Out Regular Season With Win, Capitals Await Them

Yay, the regular season is finally over for the Boston Bruins.

They dispatched the going-nowhere Buffalo Sabres this afternoon 4-3 in a shootout at TD Garden.

The Bruins (49-29-4) will host the Washington Capitals (the No. 7 seed in the Eastern Conference) probably starting on Thursday night. We'll have a preview of that series later in the week. It looked like it would be Ottawa all along but they couldn't gain any points so the Caps eventually jumped over them. That's too bad since Washington is a tougher matchup for Boston.

Tyler Seguin (he finished with 29 goals this season to lead the team) had two goals for the B's, Patrice Bergeron handed out three assists, Brad Marchand (28 goals this season) had a goal and Tim Thomas (35-19-1) made 25 saves.

Former Bruin Brad Boyes scored twice for the Sabres (39-32-11) who lost the season series 4-2 to Boston.

Bergeron had the lone goal in the shootout. Most importantly, nobody got hurt for the Bruins today while Brian Rolston, Johnny Boychuk and Adam McQuaid all got the day off.
