Four More Years of Dennis Seidenberg is Alright With Me
There weren't many key Bruins left to lock up after this season concludes but GM Peter Chiarelli took care of business the same day as their 2013-14 season opener vs. Tampa Bay. This afternoon Boston signed defenseman Dennis Seidenberg to a four-year extension worth $16 million.
Seidenberg turned 32 over the summer and the deal includes a no-trade clause, like most contracts in today's NHL for important players. Fans of other teams probably don't realize how good Seidenberg is but B's fans are well aware of how dominant he can be, especially in the playoffs when they pair him with Zdeno Chara for their top shutdown line.
He's been in the NHL for 10 years and last season in 46 games he had four goals, 13 assists and he was plus 18. He had played in Philadelphia, Phoenix, Carolina and Florida before being traded to the Bruins in 2010. It's safe to say that he's made a name for himself in the Hub while becoming one of the more underrated defensemen in the NHL. Thanks Panthers!
