Paul Pierce Earns An Eastern Conference Player Of The Week Award

In a blog from last week, I suggested that Paul Pierce should be Eastern Conference Player of the Month. I guess we'll settle have to settle for Eastern Conference Player of the Week for the time being.

Pierce earned the honor today after his stellar work last week helped the Celtics go 4-0 against Cleveland, Toronto, New York and Memphis. Over that period, Pierce averaged 22 points, 6.3 assists and 5.8 rebounds per game.

Boston has won eight of its last nine games and Pierce has been the most consistent player since they started to turn things around after their brutal start to 2011-12.

Apparently Pierce beat out Derrick Rose (Bulls), Anderson Varejao (Cavaliers), Greg Monroe (Pistons), LeBron James (Heat), Dwyane Wade (Heat) and Brandon Jennings (Bucks). Spurs guard Tony Parker won the Western Conference's Player of the Week.

The Celtics are back in action tomorrow night as they host the 3-21 Charlotte Bobcats. I would normally say avoid this turd game at all costs since the Celts should roll in the glorified scrimmage but Pierce is about to pass Larry Bird for second in scoring all-time in Celtics history. So at least check out the first half because he only needs nine points to tie Larry Legend.
