As Everybody Knows, It's Good To Be Bill Belichick & Doc Rivers

There's nothing better than lists about what players and coaches in American professional sports make the most money per year, they're fascinating.

Forbes.com listed its Top 10 highest paid coaches for 2012 today and no surprise, New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick was No. 1 at $7.5 million per year. Boston Celtics head coach Doc Rivers was tied at No. 2 (with Mike Shanahan, Jeff Fisher and Pete Carroll) at $7.0 million per year. Eight out of the 10 spots are filled with NFL coaches (Gregg Popovich is the other NBA coach on the list).

It's easy to poke holes at some guys on there, like Carroll, Lovie Smith (tied No. 6, $6.0 million) or Ken Whisenhunt (tied No. 8, $5.75 million) but I couldn't care less as a Boston sports fan since everybody knows that Belichick and Rivers are two of the best not only in their respective sports but in all American sports.

Belichick needs this money to maintain his summer mansion in Nantucket, not to mention keeping his cougar Linda Holliday looking good for the near future. Likewise, Doc has his penthouse suite in Boston plus a big family scattered across the country.

Play on players.
